At a glance
Explain a different kind of dating product, one curated match at a time, introduced by an AI matchmaker, clearly enough that a tired swiper wants to try it.

how I did it
Understood the model
One curated match at a time, introduced by IO, an AI matchmaker.
Shaped the story
A page that answers a sceptical visitor’s next question, section by section.
Designed the conversations
IO’s introductions and date booking, as WhatsApp chats.
Built the website
From the one-line promise to the early-access sign-up.
Keeping you single isn’t our business idea.
The existing dating ecosystem makes money when you stay single and keep swiping. One at a time only makes money when you actually go on a date.

- VerifiedVerified profiles only.
- CuratedCurated intros, not a feed.
- No swipingOne match at a time.
- WhatsApp nativeIO lives where you already chat.
When more choice becomes more noise.
The project starts from three problems with swipe-first apps.
- Swipe fatigue from endless matching
- Emotional burnout from conversations that go nowhere
- Low chat-to-date conversion: talking rarely becomes meeting
How might the website explain “one match at a time” instantly, while making the experience feel human?
For the website, this becomes a communication problem: explain a different way of dating without overwhelming the visitor or adding to dating anxiety.
Meet IO, the matchmaker in your chats.
Three steps from hello to a real date. The two conversations below are rebuilt from the chat designs, so they can play.
- 1
Say hi to IO 👋
Chat with IO and help it understand what you’re looking for: the do’s, don’ts, lifestyle, values, red flags and whatnots.
- 2
One thoughtful intro ✨
IO learns your vibe and suggests one high-signal match at a time. Curated, not crowded.

Get, set, date 💌
Upon a mutual yes, IO co-curates your date at a partner cafe. No small talk. Masked numbers. Just show up.
- IO:
Dude, I think I found your one.
- IO:

Subhiksha, 26, loves beaches and is a die-hard Raja 🎻 fan, just like you. She is a dentist by profession.
I suppose you never have to worry about that decayed tooth of yours 🦷😜 - IO:
What do you think?
- You:
I already like her, tell me moreeeeeee 💕
- IO:
View Booking DetailsCuties, I have a booked table at Hibiscus cafe on 15th Dec, 7 PM.
You guys have a great one, ok! 🤗 - Him:

Perfect. See you at Hibiscus at 7! 😊
- Her:

So it’s actually happening, is it? Great, looking forward. 😊
Scroll the website.
Keep scrolling: the page moves from a one-line promise to the business model, then to IO itself. Each section answers the next question a sceptical visitor is likely to have.
- the promise, in one line
- the business model, said out loud
- five principles, easy to scan
- IO, introduced where it lives: in a chat
- three steps from hi to a real date
- one clear ask: get early access
Make the promise feel concrete.
A distinctive product model needs a clear explanation. The design explores how imagery, language, and a visible journey help a visitor understand the experience before starting it.
